Tests requested by hospital consultant
Tests performed outside of the NHS
If you have had tests privately, it is your responsibility to provide us with copies of the results to avoid duplication. If this is not possible, you may be referred for the test to be repeated within an appropriate UK service.
If you choose not to repeat the test, you will be asked to provide informed dissent.
Frequently asked questions
Most results are available within 5 working days, but some tests may take longer. If your test was carried out at a hospital, please contact them directly.
If your results need follow-up, a member of the team will contact you to arrange the next steps, which may include further tests or an appointment.
We can only share results with the patient they relate to, unless consent has been given or the patient is unable to understand the information.
Results may not appear straight away as they need to be reviewed by a clinician before being released.
If your test was carried out at a hospital or clinic, please contact them directly for your results, as we cannot action tests requested outside of the practice.
Results from private tests are not automatically shared with the NHS. Please provide us with a copy so we can review them and avoid repeating tests.
